  1. The Fall Open Enrollment Period: You can make a number of changes to your Medicare coverage during Fall Open Enrollment (also known as the Annual Election Period, or AEP). The Fall Open Enrollment Period occurs each year from October 15 through December 7, with your new coverage starting January 1.
    1. During this period you can:
      • Change your choice of health coverage
      • Add, drop, or change Medicare drug coverage
    2. You can make as many changes as you need during this period, and your last coverage choice will take effect January 1. To avoid enrollment problems, it is usually best to make as few changes as possible.

         2. Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period - OEP
With the new period is from January 1st through March 31st. Enrollees can now move from one Medicare Advantage plan to another without receiving a penalty, even if you just signed up for a Medicare plan during the previous Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). Additionally, just as before, you can return to Original Medicare from a Medicare Advantage plan and enroll a stand-alone Medicare Part D drug plan (and purchase a Med Supp). With the new period, enrollees can now move from one Medicare Advantage plan to another without receiving a penalty.

         3. If you’re new to Medicare, getting ready to turn 65, or preparing to retire, you’ll need to make several important decisions about your health coverage. If you wait to enroll, you may have to pay a penalty, and you could have a gap in coverage.
Given that Medicare can seem like a confusing web of options, it's not any wonder that many consumers rely on licensed professionals for help. In addition to that question, will those agents be qualified to assist?  Consumers need to make sure they are well versed and have the right credentials before working with them on plan selections.

This is where our agency can assist.  When it comes to Medicare, you have choices.  We are appointed and contracted and well versed with all of the major insurance companies in Idaho, Oregon & Washington. That gives you more choices for Medicare coverage & plans.
